J Wong

Hello Bulldog Aquatics Families!

It is that time of year when our Booster Club has its annual Executive Board Elections. As a reminder, the Bulldog Aquatics Booster Club (BABC) is a non-profit organization that all student athletes in the water polo and swim programs. The club's main purpose is to provide financial support for the aquatic teams through fundraising and donations.

We have several positions that will be vacant at the end of this school year as they are the parents of graduating seniors, though all positions are open for election. There are seven positions:

  • President (vacant in May)

  • Vice President, Boys’ Swimming

  • Vice President, Girls’ Swimming

  • Vice President, Boys’ Water Polo

  • Vice President, Girls’ Water Polo (vacant in May)

  • Secretary (vacant in May)

  • Treasurer

The board meets once a month with the coaches to discuss coach’s report, board member reports and fundraising. A board member must have a current student-athlete on any of the four aquatic teams. Each board member term is one year. To learn more about the duties and responsibilities of each positions, click here for board position descriptions.

If you are interested in one or more of the positions, click here to complete the short interest survey.

In addition, to be nominated, vote and be on the board, you must be part of the general membership of the Bulldog Aquatics Booster Club. Click here to sign up for general membership.

We will be conducting a special meeting on Thursday May 27 at 7pm via Zoom in order to hold elections. (A Zoom link will be sent out closer to the meeting time). In accordance with our Booster Club bylaws, we are notifying prospective parents and those in our general membership within 35 days of the meeting. You may nominate another person or self-nominate at any time before or on May 27th. At the special meeting, we will gather all nominees and hold a vote to elect new Board Members for the upcoming year.

Through the efforts of our Booster Club, our programs have been able to thrive in the last five years. They pay for new equipment and gear for our athletes, solicit parent volunteers, and generally support the coaches and student-athletes. Our aquatic programs would not be nearly as successful and efficient as they are today without the on-going efforts and support of our awesome Booster Club!

If you have any questions about the positions, duties, or responsibilities of the Booster Club, feel free to reach out Coach Avery (kateavery@iusd.org), Coach Lawicki (kellielawicki@iusd.org), and/or current President Craig Wong (info@portolaaquatics.com).

Thank you in advance for your interest and support! Make a difference for our water polo and swimmer student-athletes!!!!
